Magic Festival Volunteer

If you have already submitted a volunteer interest form and received a VicNet password, you do not need to complete this volunteer application. You can schedule yourself for available openings through VicNet.

There are a variety of ways that you can assist both before the day and day of, so take a look at the opportunities listed below and sign up today! If you’d like clarification on any of the volunteer opportunities or have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with OutReach’s Program Director AJ!
If you’re interested in coming to OutReach in the days leading up to the Festival and helping inventory, organize, and otherwise prepare supplies for the Magic Pride Festival please get in touch with AJ directly at ajh@lgbtoutreach.org!
Please be aware that all Magic Pride Festival and OutReach volunteers must:
• Be over the age of 18.
• Undergo appropriate training for their role and level of engagement.
• Adhere to all Magic Pride Festival and OutReach policies.
• Support OutReach’s Mission, Vision, and Values (https://www.outreachmadisonlgbt.org/about).
Volunteer Opportunities at the Magic Pride Festival
Assistance with Vendor Set Up: Help mark spots for vendor tents and tables, direct vendors to assigned spots, provide access to supplies (scissors, tape, etc.) if needed by festival vendors. This work will take place outdoors and require moving through Warner Park along paved paths. Volunteers may be required to lift or carry up to 20 lbs.
Transport supplies from OutReach to Warner Park: Meet OutReach staff at the community center at 10:00am to help load and transport supplies to Warner Park. This work may involve lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs., bending, and walking through the OutReach office and parking lot. Volunteers for this role must have access to a vehicle that can be used to assist with transporting supplies.
Event Set-up: Help set up 10x10 tents, tables, signage, fencing, and other event supplies before the Festival begins. This work will take place outdoors and may involve lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs., bending, reaching above shoulders, moving through the park along paved paths or grass, and other activities.
Non-Alcoholic Beverage Vending: Help distribute sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages at the Soda/Water table. This work will take place outdoors and may involve moderate reaching or bending. The Soda/Water table is covered by a large awning and on a paved surface.
Beer Vending with Delta Beer Lab: Help Delta Beer Lab staff sell beers at Delta Beer Lab tent. This work will take place outdoors and may involve bending and reaching in a potentially high volume sales environment.
Circulating Clean-up During Festival: Make sure Warner Park stays beautiful! Circulating clean up volunteers will move through the Festival grounds picking up litter (with grabbers and appropriate PPE including gloves) or moving/replacing trash and recycling bags as they fill up.
Greeter/Welcome Tent Attendant: Greet Festival goers at the front entrances, handle cash donations or provide instructions for donating electronically, answer questions about different areas at the Festival and coordinate accessibility needs with OutReach staff. This work will take place outdoors in a tented area on grass. Volunteers should be prepared to greet and interact with many individuals.
Information Tent/OutReach Table Attendant: Share information about OutReach with festival goers, handle cash donations or provide instructions for donating electronically, answer questions about different areas at the Festival and coordinate accessibility needs with OutReach staff. This work will take place outdoors in a tented area on grass.
Volunteers should be prepared to greet and interact with many individuals.
Stage Helper/Entertainment Assistance: Help collect donations during performances, make sure that green room tent stays clean, safe, and accessible, and other duties as requested by stage show coordinators. This role will require moving through crowds to collect cash donations. Volunteers should be prepared to be outdoors the entire shift on grass and may be asked to reach, bend, and carry up to 15 lbs.
Event Tear-down: Help take down 10x10 tents, tables, signage, fencing, and other event supplies after the festival ends. This work will take place outdoors and may involve lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs., bending, reaching above shoulders, moving through the park along paved paths or grass, and other activities.
Transporting Supplies from Warner Park to OutReach: Meet OutReach staff after the end of the Festival to help load and transport supplies back to OutReach. This work may involve lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs., bending, and walking through the OutReach office and parking lot. Volunteers for this role must have access to a vehicle that can be used to assist with transporting supplies.
